Celeste began painting from age 15.
From painting electives at school to private lessons exploring different mediums, Celeste had discovered her creative outlet. It wasn’t until 2022 after being gifted her first professional art set that she committed to her artistry and sharing it with the world. Inspired by Afrocentric art and the complexities of human existence, her art transcends boundaries, inviting viewers to explore the depths of body language and self acceptance.

“My name is Celeste St. Clair and I’m a self taught artist. I’ve had a passion for the creative space since I was a child but it wasn’t until my teen years that I started to dive into acrylic paint.
I always gravitated towards the human body as my subject with muted or extremely contrasting backgrounds. I was sketching bodies ever since I was a kid which confused the adults around me but I couldn’t help but admire the story and emotion behind each silhouette, curve, and contour that society has conditioned us to criticize instead of appreciate.
I come from a Caribbean immigrant father who was an artist back in the islands. I always admired his paintings around the house and felt so much pride in knowing my father did that. But in pursuit of the American dream he had to surrender that talent. Knowing that I now have the opportunity to pursue this dream for the both of us because of his sacrifices is what drives me everyday.
For this collection, I specifically wanted to celebrate the female body and exude a confidence I can only hope inspires each viewer. Allow the canvas to serve as a reminder that each flaw and curve has a unique beauty and reclaim pride in being a walking piece of art.”
